Sameer Lalwani is a Senior Advisor with the Special Competitive Studies Project and a Non-Resident Senior Fellow with the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments. His research interests include deterrence, interstate rivalry, technology alliances, and Indo-Pacific security. He is a term member with the Council on Foreign Relations, and a Contributing Editor to War on the Rocks. Previously, he was a Senior Expert at the US Institute of Peace where led work sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense on the India-China battlespace and US-India defense technology cooperation, including INDUS-X. He has previously been the Director of the South Asia Program at the Stimson Center, an Adjunct Professor at GWU’s Elliott School of International Affairs, and a Stanton Nuclear Security Postdoctoral Fellow at the RAND Corporation. His work has been published in leading academic journals and analytical outlets. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from UC Berkeley and a Ph.D. from MIT.
