On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, Jim Golby (co-host of the “Thanks for Your Service” podcast and senior fellow at the Clements Center for National Security at The University of Texas at Austin) presented a talk titled “Thanks For Your Service: The Causes and Consequences of Public Confidence in the U.S. Military.”

This week, faculty, students and more gathered virtually just past noon to hear to Jim Golby (co-host of the “Thanks for Your Service” podcast and senior fellow at the Clements Center for National Security at The University of Texas at Austin) discuss “Thanks For Your Service: The Causes and Consequences of Public Confidence in the U.S. Military.” Golby spoke about public perceptions of the U.S. military and its performance, as well as the impact and implications of public confidence on the military’s funding, recruitment and in pop culture. The talk was streamed live on MIT SSP’s YouTube channel, and a great Q&A with the audience followed.

The next Wednesday Seminar (to be held on 3/10), features David Smith, Distinguished Fellow with the South Asia Program at the Stimson Center and independent consultant at Sandia National Laboratories. Smith will present: “Is India a Strategic Asset for the U.S. in the Indo-Pacific Region or a Strategic Millstone Around the Neck?”
