Speakers:

Barry Posen is Ford International Professor of Political Science, MIT. His current research examines whether the diffusion of power away from the United States can best be understood as the emergence of a multipolar structure of power, and if so, how the United States should navigate this change. His most recent book is Restraint: A New Foundation for US Grand Strategy.

Dmitri Trenin is director of the Carnegie Moscow Center, and has been with the Center since its inception. He also chairs the research council and the Foreign and Security Policy Program. He served in the Soviet and Russian armed forces from 1972 to 1993. His most recent book, Russia, explains the  causes and meaning of the twists and turns in contemporary Russian history.
