SSP Wednesday Seminar February 5th with Chappell Lawson and Sean Atkins
Sean Atkins and Chap Lawson

SSP's first Wednesday Seminar of the Spring 2020 semester took place February 5th with a joint presentation by Professor Chappell Lawson and graduate student Sean Atkins. Their topic: "The Effectiveness of a Quasi-Voluntary Regime: Cybersecurity for U.S. Critical Infrastructure."

Our first Wednesday Seminar of the spring semester kicked off with a packed house! Students, faculty and staff gathered at noon to listen to Associate Professor of Political Science, Chappell Lawson and Sean Atkins, discuss the past, present and future of cybersecurity within U.S. critical infrastructure. Atkins—a PhD student in Security Studies and International Relations and an active duty Air Force officer—also co-authored a research paper with Lawson which served as the basis of their presentation. A lively Q&A with the audience followed.

Next week’s Wednesday Seminar (2/12), features University of Michigan Assistant Professor of Political Science, Yuri M. Zhukov. Zhukov will present: “Fighting for Tyranny: How State Repression Shapes Military Performance,” based on work he co-authored with Arturas Rozenas and Roya Talibova.
