Rachel Tecott | People

Rachel Tecott is an Assistant Professor at the U.S. Naval War College in the Strategic and Operational Research Department. She received her PhD in Political Science in 2021 from MIT, where she was a member of the Security Studies Program. Her book project examines U.S. efforts to build militaries in partner states, and focuses in particular on the evolution of the U.S. Army's efforts to teach, persuade, coerce, and command reticent partner leaders to build militaries that can fight. More broadly, she studies international security, military strategy and operations, military innovation, and civil-military relations. Before MIT, she worked in political risk consulting and studied nuclear proliferation. She holds a BA from Wesleyan University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
