Colonel Warren Sponsler is an Army War College Fellow with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Security Studies Program. He was commissioned as an Armor Officer from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1996. His troop command and staff assignments include multiple US and overseas tours with experience in Bosnia, Kuwait and three deployments to Iraq between 2003 and 2011. Colonel Sponsler most recently served as the Senior Brigade Combat Team Trainer at the Army’s National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California, preparing Army Brigades for contingency deployments around the world. He has commanded maneuver units from the platoon through battalion level and last commanded a combined arms armor and infantry battalion stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, and on deployment in the Middle East. Colonel Sponsler earned a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering at the United States Military Academy and a Masters in Military Studies from Marine Corps University.
