Rana Mitter

On Wednesday, April 14, 2021, speaker Rana Mitter (Professor and Fellow of St. Cross College at the University of Oxford) discussed “How World War II Is Shaping a New Nationalism.”

This week, faculty, students and more gathered virtually just past noon to hear to Rana Mitter (Professor and Fellow of St. Cross College at the University of Oxford) discuss “How World War II Is Shaping a New Nationalism.” Mitter spoke about the ways modern-day China used World War II to forge nationalism and rewrite its history—based off his latest book, China’s Good War: How World War II is Shaping a New Nationalism. The talk was streamed live on MIT SSP’s YouTube channel, and a lively Q&A with the audience followed.

The next Wednesday Seminar (to be held on 4/28), features Kelebogile Zvobgo, Provost's Fellow in the Social Sciences at the University of Southern California and incoming Assistant Professor of Government at William & Mary. Zvobgo will present: “Do Americans Support War Crimes Prosecutions?”
